WEATHER CODE: YELLOW ***Slick roads may develop tonight with light snow and potential refreeze***
After several days of no posting...its back to weather. Most areas got a good inch of snow yesterday with some 2 inch amounts across the Bluegrass region. Their was lighter totals to the north across South Central and Central Indiana.
Tonight a pretty weak system will travel across the region. This doesn't have to much moisture to work with, but with temperatures bottoming out in the teens...snow ratios will be rather high. Right now I will say up to one half of an inch will be possible across Western Kentucky, eastward into Northern and Central Kentucky. Areas across Central/South Central Indiana will see a dusting at best.
NWS in Louisville: TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO DROP INTO THE LOW TO MID TEENS...SO SNOW RATIOS WOULD BE RATHER HIGH OVERNIGHT...SUCH THAT A QUARTER TO A THIRD OF AN INCH IS POSSIBLE IN AREAS WEST OF I-65.
Another weather problem overnight will be a potential refreeze. Many areas south of a Seymour, North Vernon, to Bedford line recieved anywhere between .50 to 2 inches of snow last night. Due to plentiful sunshine today and temperatures close to freezing...most of this snow has melted. Any water left overnight will quickly freeze with temperatures dropping into the teens. Main roads should be OK, but secondary roads will become slick and hazardous overnight. Please be careful traveling later tonight into tomorrow morning!
Temperatures will warm into the middle 30's Wednesday and lower 40's Thursday. Next system arrives Friday into Saturday, but at this point models supress this storm well to the south. I opted to leave forecast dry, but I will throw in a slight chance for rain and or snow Friday night into Saturday.
There has been some talk about a potential storm for early next week. Computer models are all over the place. Anyhow, just like any storm...I will be watching this one! STAY TUNED!
